The Great Fishing Expedition

No, I wasn't there. They caught 55 fish on my grandfather's last fishing trip. This time they had an even greater surprise. My Uncle Win snagged a 61 inch, 50 pound Cod Fish!

Cod fishing at 240 feet and 10 miles off shore (Dad, Win, Captain, Nancy)

Here's a video of my uncle pulling up twin cods.

This cod had trouble seeing straight once he met my Dad

The Cheese Stands Alone

Dane graduated on Friday from Covenant Theological Seminary with his second masters. This time he earned his ThM (Master of Theology). He was the only ThM student present, so when the graduates receiving that degree were called to stand Dane rose alone. It was an awesome sight seeing Dane be recognized for these 5 years of work and hearing the cheers from his MDiv classmates. I'm so proud of Dane!

Dinner at Kobe before graduation

He's really done!

Zachary continues to enjoy rolling under the furniture

So happy to have Mayme and Bapa here to celebrate!

My dear friend Christy

Congratulations Daddy!!

Silly boy

I am deeply grateful for CTS and its impact on our family. I will miss . . .

  • Professors who took the time to invest in us

  • Friends to watch my shows with :)

  • The Atherton Moms

  • Being able to step outside my door and know that within minutes we will be joined by numerous children

  • Our little Atherton apartment that I've grown to love

  • Walks around Gulf drive

  • Having a kiddie park so close

  • Our push button stove

  • Waking up in the middle of the night to our neighbors screaming, "How do you lose the . . . football game!"

  • Atherton picnics

  • The FREE zoo

  • Dane coming home after hearing a sermon by Zack Eswine or Dr. Chapell on loving your wife

  • Sessions with Dr. Douglass on how Dane and I can love and appreciate each other while being exact opposites on the Myers-Briggs

  • The wonderful people of Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church

  • One Accord Sunday School Class

  • Pam's group
I'm so thankful that Dane brought me here even when I was so resistant. These will certainly be counted as some of the best years of our lives!

9 Months on Mother's Day

We enjoyed a sweet Mother's Day breakfast at our favorite little spot with our dear friends the Spinks.
Stacey requested LOTS of potatoes and the waitress just kept them coming!
Zachary loved sitting up in the highchair and watching all the people!
Zachary has continued to grow and learn new things this month. Now that he is 9 months old, it doesn't feel like I have a baby any more but a little boy. Zachary hasn't figured out how to crawl yet, but at the rate that he is able to roll across the floor I'm sure he'll figure it out soon.

We've added to the menu . . .

  • Bananas

  • Turkey

  • Beef

  • Green Beans

  • Carrots

  • Veggie Puffs

  • Rice

He can now . . .

  • Sit in a highchair at restaurants

  • Bathe in a big boy bath

  • Eat foods with his hands (although bananas have been a bit too slipery for him)

  • Chow down with the best of them (the boy can eat!)

  • Manoovure his way under the furniture (his favorite places to roll these days)

  • Put his arms through the sleeves of his shirts and make his legs straight to make it easier for Mommy to put his pants on

  • Say ma ma, ba ba, and other cooing noises (he is very noisy these days!)

  • Bite harder (his 4 top teeth are all coming in at the same time!!)

  • Waive with his hand (very cute)

  • Pull to standing (with a little resistance)

  • Stand while holding on to something

  • Eat solid foods in the car (as was discovered on our trip to Wheaton)

  • Not cry when given 2 shots in the leg (as was demonstrated at his 9 month doctors chekup)

Baby Babble

Here in St. Louis??

We were driving down Page Ave. today on our way home and noticed this car in front of us!

Catching Up on Life

Dinner at El Maguey (our favorite Mexican restaurant after our dear Dos Primos went out of business)

Mommies Night Out

Beth and I celebrating with Christy at her baby shower

4 LOST women

Zachary rolls all over the floor now and usually ends up under some piece of furniture

Super excited to be moving to Wheaton soon (yes, we were actually there as we needed to look for housing)

2 days straight in the car and he's still smiling!

Phew! A break from the car on the way home.

The playmat looks a lot different when you're sitting up!

I chew on everything now that my 4 top teeth are ALL coming in at once!

A morning of walking and playing at Miller Park (It's amazing how hard it is to get 5 children to all look at the camera at the same time!)

Big Boy Bath

This was Zachary's first time taking a bath where he wasn't crammed into the kitchen sink. Thanks to the Pattons for the ducky tub and the Zarlengas for the ducky toys, Zachary had a blast in his first big boy bath!

Are my feet supposed to be this wrinkly?
