Veggie Tales

Zachary ate veggies for the first time today! We started with 1 tsp. of Sweet Potatoes. I was expecting a disgusted look on his face but I didn't get one. I think he liked them - although with the nasty cold he has I wonder if he can even taste them. As to the 1 tsp., that's just a precaution to allergies not his appetite speaking. In fact, I'm pretty sure he would have eaten the whole jar if I let him!

Don't mind the tear in my eye, it's because of my cold.
I really do like this stuff!

Yummy!

All cleaned up and I still want more! How do you open this thing??

Aw, the little guy passed out

This is our impromptu tilt-a-bed that Dane constructed at 2am!

Poor Zachary has the most miserable cold. He started coughing earlier this week and now it has turned into a full blown seal bark. His nose started running yesterday and hasn't stopped. Every sneeze sends us fishing for another Kleenex. I thought about postponing the veggie unveiling, but Zachary wasn't having it. He was ready for those veggies!!

Yea Zachary! Sweet potatoes are yummy, and healthy! They even have iron. Kate loved them topped with a little cinnamon.

Hey Erin, what are some of the first veggies you started Kate on?

Hi! Well, avocado was her second food, and she liked it mixed with banana as well. Other early veggies were sweet potato, butternut squash, broccoli, carrot, and zucchini. Most of these I just cooked up myself and mashed, or froze excess into ice cube trays. Avocado can just be mashed with a fork--very easy. Zachary seems like such a good eater! Let me know if you want some good vegetable medley recipes as well, once you know he's not allergic to individual things!

Oh good, I got butternut squash to try as his second food. I'm very intrigued about making my own food for him. I may try that soon. Thanks for the great tips!

A good website is www.wholesomebabyfood.com for some really good and simple ideas on making your own baby food. Have fun! I'm wondering if I will have as much time for that with Will!
