Allergy #1

What a weekend! I got very sick starting Thursday night and was in bed all day Friday with a fever, cold and hot spells, body aches, etc. They say that the medicine should kick in within 24 to 48 hours. Well, Friday night around 8pm we were changing Zachary into his pajamas for bed and we noticed a patch on his leg that was definitely not his eczema!

We were about to bring him into the ER at the doctor's request when we discovered that his leg was back to normal. We then were able to determine that he was having hives, which apparently come and go. We were told to wait and see if any more showed up. Well, on Saturday more certainly did. It started as a patch on his right cheek by his mouth. A little later we found another patch on his leg about half of the size above in the same spot. Then the next thing we knew it was spreading all over his legs.

We are convinced that he is having an allergic reaction to the medication I'm taking. I've had to stop nursing him and so he had his first formula on Saturday. He doesn't seem to notice or at least mind the difference (which is hard to imagine considering the stench of the formula). So now for the rest of Zachary's life he will have to tell doctors that he is allergic to Cephalexin.

This has been quite a weekend. I had to miss my dear friend's wedding in Michigan, which I am so mad about. I would have done anything to be there, but these events were out of my hands. I am starting to feel better and Zachary seems to be hive free. I'm so thankful for Dane who stayed home with us on Friday and has been working nonstop to care for us. I love him so much!

Oh Stacey! That doesn't sound like fun at all! I'm so sorry you had to miss your friend's wedding! And poor Zachary getting hives!

Are you pumping so you can go back to nursing when you're better?

Thanks Erin! I still hope to nurse him until he's at least 1 year old.

Good for you Stacey! I know it's not easy especially with glitches like this!
