A Day's Glimpse

Zachary has begun rolling around in his crib. When placed in his crib he immediately flips to his tummy. He was even doing this while swaddled and a heavy blanket on top! So while he is trying to learn how to sleep with this new freedom to move around Zachary has been exploring every inch of his crib. It keeps me guessing where I'll find him next.

Honestly, Mommy doesn't put me in the crib like this!
Zachary got a cold Monday night and has been sneezing and coughing nonstop. That was also the day we noticed pollen on our car for the first time this spring, so we wonder if maybe Zachary just has allergies.

Oops! She caught me playing when I'm supposed to be at the other end of my bed asleep.

Yes, Mommy really does leave me in my pajamas all day!

Allergy #1

What a weekend! I got very sick starting Thursday night and was in bed all day Friday with a fever, cold and hot spells, body aches, etc. They say that the medicine should kick in within 24 to 48 hours. Well, Friday night around 8pm we were changing Zachary into his pajamas for bed and we noticed a patch on his leg that was definitely not his eczema!

We were about to bring him into the ER at the doctor's request when we discovered that his leg was back to normal. We then were able to determine that he was having hives, which apparently come and go. We were told to wait and see if any more showed up. Well, on Saturday more certainly did. It started as a patch on his right cheek by his mouth. A little later we found another patch on his leg about half of the size above in the same spot. Then the next thing we knew it was spreading all over his legs.

We are convinced that he is having an allergic reaction to the medication I'm taking. I've had to stop nursing him and so he had his first formula on Saturday. He doesn't seem to notice or at least mind the difference (which is hard to imagine considering the stench of the formula). So now for the rest of Zachary's life he will have to tell doctors that he is allergic to Cephalexin.

This has been quite a weekend. I had to miss my dear friend's wedding in Michigan, which I am so mad about. I would have done anything to be there, but these events were out of my hands. I am starting to feel better and Zachary seems to be hive free. I'm so thankful for Dane who stayed home with us on Friday and has been working nonstop to care for us. I love him so much!

7 Month Pictures

Please visit this link to see more pictures of Zachary from this month.

7 Months Today

Zachary woke up this morning sporting his new striped pajamas.

Today was one of many trips to the zoo we plan to make this spring. Zachary enjoyed sitting up in his stroller checking out all of the animals. Here he is with the giraffes.
Posing with Bill, the famous St. Louis gorilla, and friends.

More 7 month pictures coming soon . . .

Veggie Tales

Zachary ate veggies for the first time today! We started with 1 tsp. of Sweet Potatoes. I was expecting a disgusted look on his face but I didn't get one. I think he liked them - although with the nasty cold he has I wonder if he can even taste them. As to the 1 tsp., that's just a precaution to allergies not his appetite speaking. In fact, I'm pretty sure he would have eaten the whole jar if I let him!
Big boy in his new feeding seat
Don't mind the tear in my eye, it's because of my cold.
I really do like this stuff!

Yummy!

All cleaned up and I still want more! How do you open this thing??

Aw, the little guy passed out

This is our impromptu tilt-a-bed that Dane constructed at 2am!

Poor Zachary has the most miserable cold. He started coughing earlier this week and now it has turned into a full blown seal bark. His nose started running yesterday and hasn't stopped. Every sneeze sends us fishing for another Kleenex. I thought about postponing the veggie unveiling, but Zachary wasn't having it. He was ready for those veggies!!
